KITCHEN MANAGER

Tasks include:

  • Learning to execute all dishes on the menu for service, including pre-prep of sauces and slow cooked meats

  • All basic kitchen skills will be important, such as knife/cutting skills, roasting, braising, sautéing, etc.

  • Training and managing staff to help you execute the menu, including managing performance, schedule, and to-do list

  • Communicating with front-end about menu changes and shortages

  • Ordering all ingredients and managing and organizing inventory for minimal waste

  • Quality control and an affinity for tasting and evaluating dishes

  • Creating systems and operational protocol for opening/closing, managing waste, and cost analysis

  • No task is beneath you — doing dishes, taking out the trash, and cleaning every part of the kitchen will be a regular part of your day

  • You will be supervising the kitchen but also accepting direction from the management team with grace

  • Creating and maintaining a fun, positive work environment with thoughtful communication is vital


KITCHEN PREP / LINE COOK

Tasks include:

  • Learn and execute all recipes for your station

  • Utilizing basic kitchen skills will be important, such as knife/cutting skills, braising, sautéing, etc.

  • Maintaining a clean and organized station

  • No task is beneath you — doing dishes and cleaning every part of the kitchen will be a regular part of your day

  • Creating and maintaining a fun, positive work environment with thoughtful communication is vital


Our ideal kitchen team member is someone who is…

  • Dedicated to maintaining a positive work environment

  • Values high quality organic and local foods

  • Knowledgeable and/or curious about fermentation and food preservation

  • Ready to handle a high volume of orders and able to identify and take on other tasks in slow moments

  • Comfortable working hard on your feet for 8 hours, and able to lift heavy items

  • Able to work holidays and weekends, when everyone else is on vacation (our busiest time)

  • Putting food safety at the forefront — certification and implementation will be required

  • Considering an excellent customer experience as the ultimate goal

  • Ability to communicate in English is required; ability to communicate in Spanish is a bonus — please include this detail in your resume

FARMERS MARKET SALES

Every Sunday in San Rafael, 8am–1pm — immediate opening. You could also add Saturday market as well.

Pay: $200/market (includes gas reimbursement)

Working at farmers markets is super fun! Lots of trading and gifting of goods, a real community atmosphere, live music, being outside, etc. Go home with loads of great food every week!

We are looking for someone with:

  • People skills, sales skills, and a positive attitude

  • Ability to work on your feet for many hours

  • Ability to comfortably and safely lift heavy items

  • Punctuality and ability to commit to the entire time period

You must have your own vehicle that can haul several coolers, tables, a canopy, etc.

It is important to have an interest in learning about fermented foods and our products.

What the work day looks like:

  • Pick up market gear in Point Reyes

  • Drive to market

  • Set up market booth

  • Sell fantastic products (on your feet all day, connecting with customers — not looking at your phone)

  • Break down market booth

  • Deliver market gear back to facility in Point Reyes after the market

You get an allowance of trading or taking home two items per week ($20 value), in addition to pay.
